December goals update

I linked up with Hayley at the beginning of the month to share my December goals. I tried not to set myself up for failure by being too ambitious in a busy month full of travel. Here’s how it went:

  • Choose thoughtful, meaningful gifts for my family and stay within budget: I surprisingly came in under budget. As always, I would have liked to give gifts to more people, but I was happy with the ones we chose.
  • Pack for holiday travel before the last minute: yes! I did this! I packed the night before even though our flight didn’t leave until 10:30 the next morning.
  • Submit one guest post: nope.
  • Read Scripture out loud with Mike several times a week: I don’t know if we did this several times a week, but we did it more often than we would have if I hadn’t set the goal.
  • Write holiday edition of doing less to build more series: I did, but I’m not sure how great of an idea it was. I never felt like I had enough of time to full develop my ideas, and I don’t think as many people read blogs during the holidays. So it might have been a ton of extra work that didn’t reach that many people.
  • Read a fun novel: I read half of two. Does that count? I’ll probably finish one in the next few days. :)

I’m deep into thinking and praying about 2014 goals. I’ll be sharing a bit about my process and the heart behind it in the next few days.

Have you thought about 2014 goals yet?

  1. I will be looking forward to your post. I tend to fall into the eyes-bigger-than-my-stomach syndrome when setting goals (I currently have about 14!) and then I get overwhelmed and don’t do anything. Help!
